As many as it takes I only care about the count for the season. Bag 130 is partially in the hopper and I'll move the next 10 bags into the stove room in a short while.

I used to count but now I just don't care. Whatever it takes to keep the house at 70. I'm burning about 1.5 to 2 bags a day right now. Next week will be in the low to high 40s here so I should be bag to my usual bag a day.

I count for fun. This pellet counting sickness has spilled over into logging snowblower usage and rock salt consumption.

I bet you don't step on the cracks in a sidewalk either.
2 bags a day plus about 6 bundles of EnviBlocks........I went to my brother-in-laws for Christmas. Propane heat and the house was kept at 64.....And He Is RICH!!! Cold as a Mother Hubbard.
I bust my ass the few nickels that I have and there is no way I'm gunna be cold. If it's three bags, so be it, four bags....whatever...I'll just keep throwing them in.
    Good thread!

Stoves job is to keep the house warm, My job is to feed it when needed so the wifey stays warm. Lately it needs to be feed 1 1/2 to 2 bags a day. Only complaint is the pellet stacks are dwindling fast!

Geez, I better get some more pellets! ;)

Gave up on counting bags... temp is the only thing that matters. Everyone around here is happy at 74::F. THAT's what I'm talkin' about!

That said, the best pellet with low ash and heat output I have used so far is Somersets. I don't know what I was saving them for, but went to the shed last night at 7PM and grabbed two bags. Emptied the pellets already in the stove hopper and added the "Sets"....temp went from barely 70::F to 74::F and we were toasty with the low last night of 2::F.

I hear ya,.. Im sitting on 41/2 tons of Sets,.... and find myself picking up 10-15 bags of Chow locally just to keep myself from digging into the sets,... . the satisfaction of knowing we have the best stash,.. the uncertainty of getting more,.. a form of hoarding,.. a sickness,..a dark side,.. wait!!!... I'll be right back >>>>

Burning my usual bag a day. Didn't change my normal stove setting because of the cold to see what would happen. Living room temps down from 75::F to 70::F not a big deal still comfy. I did push the wood burner a bit harder.

This is the coldest it's been since I got Harman very pleased with the results my honey is happy:cool: [ don't mean I'm getting Lucky ] ;) just not bitc*ed at and that's a good thing.

I hear ya! I started hoping in one hand and scooping my burn pot ashes with the other... You can guess which one filled up faster. But on the bright side me and my honey sit warm in the living room all night long... and every once in a while my wife will come join us. I think she is jealous of my 25-PDVC...rightfully so.
