Looking to buy a show model Vermont Castings Encore Non Cat. The griddle part is completely covered with rust, probably due to humid conditions. Any ideas how the rust can be removed permanently?

Wire wheel it that's what I do. Remember to remove it first. You do not want to be wire wheelling with some pressure and hit the surounding ceramic coatings
 
Eew. How many navals do they have to clean out to get that stuff?
