Sure, probably a Scandia - they got sued big time for copying it (Taiwan-made, late 1970's)

the installation pdf does not mention any side plates or baffles, did this unit not come with a baffle?

It has a baffle as well as a refractory lined firebox. The baffle projects the heat forward as you might expect.
