My house was built in 1979 and I'm assuming the chimeny was installed then. It is a triple wall stainless steel in the center and galvanized outside. It is not insulated. The chimney has not been used in twenty years. It looks to be in good condition. Does anyone know if there are any issues with older triple wall? Should I up grade to insulated triple wall? I will be installing a small free standing wood stove.

What was this chimney's purpose? Unfortunately I would guess from the description that it is not not rated for the woodstove or UL 103 HT. See if you can find a rating label or stamped rating on the pipe.

It was used for a cast iron wood stove by the previous owners. I will go in the attic and see if there is still a stamped rating on it. Thank you.
