Little by little I'm learning all the variances to burning "inside" in a wood stove. I see the difference between that, and burning outdoors in a fire pit. Even though this is not our first year of burning inside, it IS our first year of burning 24/7, (not yet, but when it gets really cold), and I'm excited about the lessons YET to learn.

Each fire inside, although the "same" in some ways, (from fire to fire) is individually different in others......like the way the wood falls when breaking down, the way the draft behaves, the compensation differences with the damper.........

That's the type of stuff that keeps it interesting (aside from the obvious value of the heat it generates). Never a dull moment with a fire!!

No real question here........just an observation.

It's almost time to get a chair ready in front of that stove for some intensive fire studying.

You will also notice some big differences in the type of wood you put into the stove. Weather patterns can affect it a lot too. Yes, there are many things that can affect the fire but they are controllable.
