New toy with directions is broken english so....

Can someone school me in the proper use for testing the amount of moisture in wood?

Do you just stick the prongs into the end of a piece of wood?

Do you split the wood and take a reading on the newly split section?

Thanks for your help.

Type the words "Moisture meter" in the search box on left side of page...read...read...read...read some more.... question has been asked 10000000000000000s of times...lots of informaion and opinions.... not trying to be a prick....just trying to teach.

Take the reading from inside a fresh split piece. You don't have to jam the pins all the way in, my directions state about 5mm.

Thanks Todd. I will try that.

Nitro,

I spent 10 to 15 minutes or so searching and reading before sending my post. Didn't really get my answer so I figured I would be lazy and try to get a quick answer. Don't worry...I don't think you are a prick

You will notice a variation between the outer and inner(newly split) sections of wood. I've noticed as much as 10% difference in the readings.

Yeah, the end seems to always be dryer then the middle. 8

1) acquire your wood in a timely fashion

2) store it properly

3) throw your new toy away
