Hi everyone. I just found this site while looking for an answer about a new (to me) wood stove I bought. The stove is an Osburn Regent 1000 I believe. On the glass pane on the door it has a steel mesh screen on the outside of the glass. In all the research ive done on this stove ive never seen something like that which leads me to believe the glass may have been replaced at one point. My question is what kind of glass should the door have and is there anyway to tell if the current glass is the correct kind? Should it be a tempered glass?

I found this pic on an earlier thread that looks like it may have a screened window. How old is this stove? Maybe earlier ones had this kind of glass and if so, you may be able to replace it with a new one if it fits. Or you can buy ceramic glass to order (second link)

Stove windows are not tempered glass, nor would you want it to be. It's a ceramic glass made for this application.

My stove is identical to the one in that thread but the screen on mine is much more heavy duty. I have no idea of the age. I bought it from a guy who had never used it and bought it used from a local business

Maybe we'll get some posts from someone more familiar with it, but I see no reason not to order a proper ceramic glass from a custom supplier. It would probably be safer and more pleasant to use. Maybe an Osburn dealer could help out.
