What’s a good brand to look into for replacement of a older wood stove when the time comes? At this point it’s a masonary chimney with 8 inch clay liner and the inside of the stove now is 24x18 inches. Replaceable baffle and good temp control would be nice.

Looks like these might be no longer made. Is it correct to assume a liner is needed when converting to a EPA stove?
You do not necessarily need a liner. Your chimney might be missing mortar between the tiles or have cracked tiles. Itd be a good thing to check.
Some modern stoves can work fine through clay liners. But you need to check for condition and make sure it meets code.

If you are looking to go new, there are no non EPA stoves anymore. You are at the mercy of the local market and what you can manage to find used. If you are willing to travel (or pay for shipping) the selection will be better.
As far as the liner, you may or may not need one, but many times you will get your best performance from a modern stove with a liner, due to many chimneys are oversized for what's needed now. Plus you'll gain an extra margin of safety too...if you are burning good dry wood in modern stove and have a properly installed liner, a property damaging chimney fire is very unlikely...or a fire at all really...
