Lots of small Silver Maple branches? I hope I am the first to call!

I'm just getting started burning wood and I'm already tired of those ads. There seems to be a new one everyday but that one tops the list!

The deposit request is great!

I've seen a lot of "free wood" ads lately that require taking down the tree. There's a reason it costs a lot to take a tree down; you need to know what you're doing. It amazes me that some people will try to save a buck and have a complete stranger who may have no skills outside of starting his saw do the job.

Just flag him...there should be a stupidity button

Dumb on the face of it, but in these economic times someone may take him up on it.

Be nice to check back in a few weeks and see if the tree was still there.

If only I lived closer........ Great deal! The deposit thing is a pretty smart idea to , no one is going to cherry pick him......LOL!!!!!! WOW what's next ..

the requirement to grind the stump and plant grass before you get your deposit back

I had one that I took a look at last year the tree was over 100 ft tall houses everywhere(no landing zone at all but the drive) with a good 4 man crew with climbers would have been a 100 hr job and they were willing to let you keep all the wood but must take brush. Now for a tree company to take it down I am sure its 2500.00 job if not more

I still enjoy the $800 Franklin Stove listings and the $700 Vigilant Stove posts that state 'It is no longer airtight, but it is still in excellent condition' and the pick shows this rusted out cast iron mess.

here's a deposit

whoops sorry i dropped it on your house - feel free to keep the deposit and next time call a pro :D

I'd really love to do that with one of these idiots... I wish I could w/o fear of being legally screwed.

for example...

I thought we had the market cornered on the expensive junk...

Makes me want to call them up with a bit of excitement in my voice asking if they still have the stove..."You do?? When can I come pick it up?!? I'm so excited to find it! That is a vintage 'XYZ' band stove - they didn't make too many of those - the last time I saw one in that good of condition it was over $4500! I really want that one before it's gone!"

$1200 and $1650 respectively....

I particularly like the "OIL BUCKET DRIP SYSTEM TO START THE FIRE"--all caps, like the rest of the ad. Who needs Supercedars, just drip some oil on the fire!

I wonder if the tree would bounce as well as the deposit cheque?

You have to wait until it's sold and pretend to be really disappointed, ask how much it went for and then say you would have paid ten times that much.
