The Water coil blockoff plate on the back of my ph105 occasionally weeps during hot/cold cycles.

Can I remove this plate, get rid of the gasket and just use High Temp RTV?

Anybody done this?

I replaced the rubber gasket. Expect to find some surface pitting and rust that you'll need to clean up. I used some RTV with the gasket because of the imperfect sealing surface.
In retrospect, RTV alone probably would have done the job.
