Burned quite a bit of 2 x 4 lumber mixed with ash, maple, oak, etc. logs last season. Just cleaned the chimney. The stuff from the chimney filled up half of a 5-gallon bucket and it was fine, brown, sand-like stuff. Guess that means good burning. No black crispy flakes (creosote?).

Don't worry about creosote from kiln dried lumber. Just make sure it isn't treated. You're fine mixing it in, but would be easy to overfire with a big load of it.

Last winter was the first winter I burned more than the preavvious year and I didn't notice any more of a build up when I cleaned the
chimney.
