My 13 year old grandson lives with me and he can run the stove just fine.
He likes doing it if I let him..lol.
He also carry's a great deal of the wood up from the basement..great to have him around.

Teach them when they are young. I started filling the stove around age 7 or 8. No problem and I remember being very proud. That proud feeling kids get is a great teaching moment.
