It's not like me to do this.... but I will

My grandfather passed this morning into the gates of heaven. My best friend, father like, who taught me to fish at a young age, how to be a man, a good husband, and a good father. He fought for our freedom, loved the Lord, and would help anybody. I miss you already, love you, rest in peace. :(

Sorry for you loss Wellseasoned. With time the memories will put a smile on your face, maybe just a song when you're driving down the road or drinking his favorite soft drink ( At my grandfathers we drank squirt, still when I grab one it reminds me of heading to the barn in the old truck with him.)

Sorry to hear it. I am at that point in life when most of the good people in my life are leaving. I know that it leaves a hole that can't be filled.

As a young boy, and on into my teens, I was quite close with my maternal grandfather. It's been 34 years now since he died. I still think of him pretty much every day, and I know I will continue to love him and miss him as long as I'm able to remember him. In a lot of ways I'm very much like him, so he's living on in me in a way, I s'pose. Time will soften the edges of your grief...but don't try to rush it. It's a journey best walked through slowly. It's the curse of growing older...losing the older folks we've always loved. So hard. Cling tightly to family & close friends. Rick

Snuffles from Dix & Matisse your way.

Miss mine. He taught me how to ball room dance whilst standing on his shoes.

I can hear him now "Come on, Doll, get it together".

Those memories are beyond measure. Cherish them.

    He's gone, but not forgotten
    Gone, yet still he's here
He'll be there if you need him
    Tomorrow, or, next year.
No need for sorrow or for crying
Those tears will come and go
    But always in your memories
He'll be there .....and you'll know

May your pop-pop rest in peace.
