how can you test the probe to see if it needs to be replaced?

what stove, where in the stove for what part?

Hit it and if it produces a 440 cycle pitch it is fine, 220 cycle pitch you need to cut it in half and an 880 cycle pitch you need to weld on a length equal to what you already have?

I'm with j00fek, what, when, and where?

Are you asking for the repair man that's there (topic title)? Shouldn't he already know this? If not, send him on his way and don't let him mess with anything.

The ESP looks like a thermocouple, Could be checked with on OHM's meter. But I don't know the specs of a good one. Maybe one of the P61 owners can help?

I'm with dr_drum. If he has no clue, send him on his way.

he left after charging us 80 bucks

we have a harman p61

Try this all you will loose is some elbow grease. It might just be dirty.
