Hoping this is what I think it is. Oak. I'll deal with the ivy if it is. If not I'll have to pass. Only 1 mile away. Free heat. No leaves on it. Plenty of oak leaves around. Just faint smell of oak when scratched.

I was thinking same thing, but, usually the heartwood has a pith layer around it. This is all same color with no pith layer,
 
Can you show a closer picture of the smooth bark on the sections in the third picture please?

Soft maple. No if's, and's or But's about it...

It's no oak I know of. Red maple is my guess.
