I have looked EVERYWHERE! I even stopped in every mom and pop hardware store during my New Hampshire vacation( I'm still here now, BEAUTIFUL!). They have the 'pro splitting axe', but not the 'SS'. Is it only available online?? HELP!!
Sorry to hijack but is there a major diff between the SS and pro splitting axe? I have the pro splitting axe and I love it...I didnt realize there were two diff versions :long:

SS has a heavier, more broad head. IMHO, it is much more suited to splitting than the pro splitting axe, but that doesn't mean that the pro axe is useless. If you have some good straight grained stuff that doesn't require the larger head then I would bet you could swing the pro axe all day long without fatiguing much. The heavier the axe/maul, the more you fatigue when using it.
Mine arrived from amazon today. I ran out and split a round of silver maple, or oak, not sure.
Anyway, it was dark out and I was in sandles, dummy, I know, but I couldn't wait to try it and was too lazy to get some boots on.
The jury is still out. I guess it was easier than a 8lb maul, but we will see. The handle length didn't seem to be an issue other than I felt that I was swinging it slower than the maul. Maybe I was just being cautious because I wasn't properly dressed.
I got mine from Amazon yesterday......and I love it.........and I also got a 22 ton Huskee from TSC.......sooooo.......I'll get back to y'all on that one
