Why is my draft so bad?

What your showing is simply not as dry as you think wood that your burning.
I had the same problem my first year, except I knew it was not ready, but twas all I had.
I have never had a cap screen problem since then.
I too use the Simpson Duravent cap, and its holes are plenty big enough not to worry bout clogging, Less ya burn slightly wetter then though wood.
 
Oh I know the wood was less than perfect, certainly over the last month - next year should be better
