Badger pipe Circulation pumps

Anyone have experience with Badger label circulation pumps. In the specs it talks about being a direct replacement for a Grundfos 15-58.

If I get the Badger pumps w/ isolation valve will be about $20(or greater) in saving from a Grundfos 15-58 when buying off brand isolation valves.

Would you buy a generic circulation pump?

Depends on the application.

I'm an Alpha guy now - highly recommended for when one pump sees varying loads (i.e. several opening & closing zones). But my experiences with the 15-58 would tend to have me staying with that one - mine have been pretty well bullet proof. My only one bad experience was the one built into my loading unit sticking from sitting all summer. Which was an easy fix by unscrewing an access plug & unsticking it with a screwdriver. Does the Badger have that ability? That alone would be worth the bit of extra $$ - which doesn't sound like much extra, really.

Grundfos does a lot of private label pumps. That looks more like a Chinese or other import "knock off" ?

Many of those imports tend to disappear after a few years.

A quality name brand, cared for pump should last twenty years or more.

Keep good fluid quality, maintain NPSH, and run them mid curve.

15-58 are only around $90. Stick with the branded pump and you won't have to spend another $90 on the real pump when the Chinese knock off dies.

That is true but in an assembly configuration with valves many more parts are involved and a shutdown of the system could have a larger impact. I'll stick with tried and true in this Chinese crap filled America we live in.

Not a fan of this global stuff. Imagine my shock when returning to the job seeing Ward fittings stamped "China". I wanted to effing scream

I have been heavily leaning toward the Grundfos. I was more curious if anyone had the Badger Pump to confirm it was a rebadge or knock off.
By the sounds of it, these pumps are probably Chinese junk.
