So I decided to go with Duravent pellet pipe for my install. I can get it locally from Home Depot. I was shocked to see the black pipe costs almost twice as much! Can the galvanized pipe be painted? I'm thinking of wiping it down with vinegar to etch the galvanized and spraying it. I don't want to cheap out,on the project but want to save some $$ where I can.

Thanks,
Todd

Should be doable, but you may have to touch it up more often.
Use Stove Bright or another Hi-Temp paint.

Use a red scotchbright pad to scuff before yor prime. Use a good high temp paint and you should be good.

Did mine 16 years ago . Used a good oil remover
scuffed with 220 sand paper and painted with
black BBQ paint
Have never had to touch up

Yup, I did exactly this, and used flat high temp paint. Looks every bit as good as the "factory" black pipe used on another stove a few years ago.

Yes use Scotch Brite pad and vinegar then buy the high temp ceramic header paint at Oreilleys or any auto parts store.

I concur on the ceramic based high temp paint. I used it on my wood stove pipe and it's the only high temp paint that never blistered near the stove exhaust outlet. Cost a bit more but worth it to me.
