Hey all,

I have a 3 month old Harman P68. My door seems to be rubbing up against the steel body and making divits. Sometimes when I close it I hear metal on metal. It obviously has a gasket but I'm afraid this isn't normal.

Anyone else experience this? It also seems that when I close the door the bottom seals first then the top pulls in. I may have posted this question before but it doesn't seem to be right..

Advice appreciated :)

Since it is only 3 months old, talk to the dealer. Not sure if there are adjustments that can be make to the door to realign ... have you searched the manual?

I looked, can't seem to find any that would adjust the door in the fashion it looks like it needs to be.. I'll take a closer look at it again when I clean it out today.

I do notice that the gasket from the factory looks a little thinner in some places than others, not sure if that's the culprit or not. Odd! :)

Someone didn't do a very good job of putting in the gasket. There is no adjustments on the hinge side and the latch can be adjusted. Should be a pretty even gap in the metal around the door.

Okay, I can definitely see this now. I'm noticing that the gasket sits flush on the handle side and sticks out on the hinged side. Is this because the door hand is too tight? It's the newer model P68. Where can I find new gasket? What size is it?

Thank you very much.

3/8 inch rope gasketing. Can get as a kit with adhesive. I highly recommend using-getting the gasket material that is graphite impregnated. Did three stoves last week. Pretty easy project. Hardest part is the cleaning of the channel that the gasket sit in. Wire wheel for a drill and only a few dollars and can help with other stove cleaning projects latter. Probably could walk out the dog a bit on the latch after new gasket is installed. Think I am referring to the latch part right?

Thank you so much!! This is so helpful. Looking at the latch adjustment I think it's way too tight and that its pushing the gasket too flat therefore it's thicker on hinge side making the handle side dig into stove. Is this an easy adjustment?

Also, where can I purchase the rope and that adhesive you mentioned?

I have a big store chain here called Menards that is a home improvement chain. Yea also a son that goes in circles in NASCAR. Picture should give you enough info to search online. Think the kit was under $8. If the dealer is not to far away I would have them adjust it. I have not had to adjust on yet. Maybe someone else can chime in or start new thread about adjusting the door. Lots of Harman owners on site.
