Newbie with a used Englander 25 pdv about to cry!! Lol

So now, i got a lot of heat and the room it's in up to 70, turned the settings to 5 and 9, went to bed with a full hopper, and woke up to no fire, empty hoppper
Wow, that's a lot of pelletes isnt it? not really going to be much more effective than the heat pump money wise...lol, now what am I doing wrong? Thanks for all your help BTW.

Inside the empty hopper, you'll see a slider plate and screw. Loosen the screw and close the plate all the way. Then tighten the screw. That will calm down the pellet flow. I have mine that way. Also, please lower your heat range setting to 3 or 4. Make sure that the convection fan is on 9. You can make further adjustments moving forward, based on your application.

Yea to get btu’s Your going to burn pellets. How many hours were on that hopper full? You can close the restricter plate to slow pellet consumption but be careful how much you close it because you will loose btu’sYou're very welcome.

For myself, leaving the restrictor plate open even a little, supplied too many pellets on all the heat ranges. Now that I have it closed all the way, the pellet pileup has stopped for heat ranges 1-7. I can still get plenty of heat with a more efficient burn.

i filled it at about 10pm and went to bed...up at 7 and it was out...lol i'm learning a lot from you guys tho... and i'm working fans to get the heat upstairs and it's finally working a little.. my heat pump air return is in the hall at the top of the stairs from where the stove is..hoping to get it remotely warm and tiurn on the fan there...maybe just need to install the stove upstairs and get over having a warm basement, lol.

Just for example. I am running on 7-8 and filled last night at 9 pm and checked it at 530 am and it was close to running out. But I had a fair amount on the side of the hopper that never slides down. Never could get that to work. I used to have mine down stairs but moved it upstairs last year and am so much happier with the heat and efficiency.
well, that sounds about like what mine did. thanks again for all the info.. I guess maybe next year it will come upstairs..and maybe a small one for the basement...

Get another pdv. Easyer to turn temp down than try to get more than it can produce. And you’ll be an old pro from learning this one

Some members use a non-stick spray on the hopper. It might be a graphite spray? Someone will chime in on that I'm sure. You want to be careful to use a safe spray. I think that Englander might offer a spray for that. I lined my hopper with metal duct tape top to bottom horizontaly. That solved the problem.

Every ton when i clean i wipe the hopper down with mothers car wax. Then wipe off and Fill it. I have used wax paper too about the same effect.
