Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust yeah
Hey, I’m going to get you too
Another one bites the dust

Yep elm. There’s lots of dead standing elm up here for the taking lately. This is the 3rd one I’ve cut up in the last 3 months but the other 2 were smaller. I have one huge one to take down next.Elm?
It’s elm, and EAB isn’t present in the county yet. They say our extremely cold winters kill off the larvae but they also say that eventually they will adapt to the cold.EAB hitting up there?

There’s a lot of elm trees up here from small to big 70 footers. I don’t know if it just me observing it more lately or if it is ded going around but there seems to be more dying off lately.DED has been around for decades. Around these parts it manafested itself on the early 80's and by 90 nearly every one was standing dead. Now you see a stray one now and then still fairly healthy but they are rare birds indeed. Hopefully they will make a comeback some day along with American Chestnut. Kevin
Yup it can be tough to split even with a powerful hydraulic splitter sometimes.good looking stuff, no rot. Have fun splitting that, Elm is brutal as I'm sure you know
Yeah we had an elm disease that wiped out a lot of them. We are having trouble with beech blight on my property and taking out a lot of mature beech. If i can get to them before the blight they make good firewood. The blight rots them from the bottom up and taking down one that shows signs is super sketchy.Yep elm. We don’t have any beach trees up here but if you like to fish we have a lot of that here. I’m only 8 miles from the Chippewa Flowage where a few record Muskies have been caught through the years. It’s a 30,000 acre lake. You see lots of corporate boats here like Rapala’s. There many other lakes around too.Yeah we had an elm disease that wiped out a lot of them. BTW if you don’t know, the lyrics are from a Queen song, Another One Bites the Dust. It’s mostly a vocal piece with a heavy bass beat.
Not that I’ve seen but I should pay closer attention for them.any morels around all these dead elm trees?
We find the majority of them around ash trees here. I think that is the Morel Mushrooms that grow around the Ash trees. My buddy is a shroom hunter and sells them to local restaurants, he has made about $1000 off them as a hobby this past fall.any morels around all these dead elm trees?
Love to fish but mostly fish for walleye. I fish Lake Ontario, it's tough to do on the larger lakes. We used to have the NWT come through once a year but now the area I fish caters to the BASS masters. We don’t have any beach trees up here but if you like to fish we have a lot of that here.
