    Newbie needs a new stove...

Hello and thanks for your input and advice. I intend to upgrade from an old 1977 Vermont Castings Vigilant. It would be nice to use the 26% tax credit with an approved new wood stove purchase and install. Current stove is a Vermont Castings 1977 Vigilant. It uses lots of wood and is not...

How to move Progress H pallet to hearth?

Hear ye hear ye PH owners, My PH is en route to Idaho! I have a pretty straight run from my front door, and about a 1" lip on my hearth. Did anyone use a pallet jack to position their PH? If not, how did you do it? A bit intimidated but excited too, just figuring out what tool to rent. Thx!

We recently acquired a farm including an 1896 typical Ontario working farmer's 1 1/2 storey re-brick farmhouse with a centre gable front second storey window. There are...

Help me upgrade and upsize my wood stove!

Hi all, A month ago I had my chimney lined and installed a little Jotul F100. I knew it was way undersized for my home, but due to mantle clearance issues, this was what worked, and I figured the main thing was getting the liner done well and then I could reassess the stove situation (plus I...

    Sheetrock and heat...?

Is there such a thing as "High temperature" sheetrock and mud? I just took delivery of a Woodstock PH and built a surround for it. I have maintained all minimum distance requirements and overbuilt the surround with 2 layers of DuraRock under the stone veneer in an effort to create more thermal...
