Does anyone have a cleaning tool to use in the 6 holes that appear on the top plate behind the fire brick? I've forced the ash vac plastic tube down them but feel there must be a better way. The tubes feel rough when feeding the vac tube. If you've fabricated something could you please share? Thank you

i usually just pop the brick panel off remove the ash trap covers then vac it out on the bottom, then before installing the plates again, bang on the back of the firewall with a mallet to shake down the ash buildup then vac it out again

I do the same as Mike. I also have an old garden hose duct taped to the end of a shop vac piece that I run through the ash trap covers and behind the firewall to make sure I got everything after the mallet pounding.

Exactly where are those ashes from behind the firewall coming from? I also use a mallet to bang the firewall and use plastic tubing I purchased from Lowes to attach to the shop vac crevice tool and run them through the ash trap covers. How often do you folks clean the ash trap? I am doing mine with the monthly cleaning.
