1st Maine Wood Heat Symposium Planned for October 2018

  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.

I'm not affiliated with this, just received notification through the Maine Forest Service:

The Maine SWEAT will sponsor the first ever one day workshop/symposium on a date to be determined in October, 2018, in the northern part of the state. The symposium will be an opportunity to owners of wood heat systems, advocates and practitioners of commercial scale modern wood heating technology to come together for the day, with the following objectives:

  • Learn from each other on best operating practices
  • Learn about new technology advances
  • Meet vendors and purveyors of services related to pellet and chip heating of commercial buildings
  • Hear from the Maine SWEAT program, including first presentation of a statewide study summarizing the economic and environmental benefits of modern pellet and chip heating in Maine.
  • Build a community of wood heat advocates who can work together to advance commons interests
A “Save the Date” announcement will be sent in May, and symposium details including registration info will go out in August or early September. The Maine SWEAT is looking for volunteers who would be interested in participating on a small task force to develop the programs details. Contact Charlie Niebling at [email protected] or 603.965.5434 if you are interested.

A 2nd Maine Wood Heat Symposium will be held in southern Maine in the fall of 2019.
