Howdy all! I've been reading here for a bit and didn't see any details regarding a F3CB rebuild.
We bought a home 4 years ago with a green F3CB and we love it. Over the last two years the back burn plate cracked from the top (about half-way down) and the grate has began to break away. After purchasing those two pieces, I've got the parts out (with a bit of help from a grinder). Now it is time for reassembly and I've got some questions about the old gaskets and such.
1. Do I to replace the white materials between the burn plates and the exterior? The original ones have some thin spots. Do they have to overlap or get pinched between the various plates as they go back in?
2. Can I use sealant to help hold the gaskets in as I reassemble? It didn't appear that the gaskets had any sealant as they fell right out.
3. Does a 'plug' go into each hole under the rear plate on the left side of the stove? I only have one larger one to fit the larger hole.
Any other tips/comments concerning this rebuild would be appreciated. Aside from a few gasket replacements, this is my first serious venture into repair. Also, while the stove is already broken down AND cold weather isn't here yet, is there any preventive measures to take before re-assembly to keep me from doing this again next year for something small.
Thanks in advance
