2 bombs go off at Boston Marathon

Bad news... 2 synchronized bombs went off at the Boston Marathon near the finish line a little more than two hours after the leaders of the race finished. There was also a fire or a bomb at the JFK library, but it is not known if that is related to these or not. Confirmed 2 dead and at least 28 injured. Boston is in lock-down mode now.

It is all over the news on TV now, every network.

Sources? There are lots of wild reports, but nothing has been confirmed about any arrests. Other reports floating around are that a third bomb was found by police that was not detonated, but that has not been confirmed. The JFK Kennedy library reported an earlier electrical fire in one wing, and it was likely not related to these bombings. It is not known if these bombs were set by any terrorist organization or by domestic types.

More than 100 people affected by the bombs have been treated for injuries in Boston now.

Some tense moments for me, I was away from home and not near a tv or radio. I heard what happened from texts with my oldest daughter. My brother was there with his father-in-law to watch my brothers wife run the marathon. I couldnt reach him at first when I tried to call him and I was scared S***less to say the least. Thankfully my brother and his family are all ok, plus others I know who were there are ok! Last I heard my brother cant find his wife yet in all the confusion, they just want to find each other and get the heck out of Boston! Thoughts and prayers going out to the victims and there families right now!

I heard some of these marathoners crossed the finish line and went straight to Mass General to donate blood if needed! Even in our darkest moments good people rise to the top!

Hmmm... the NY Post reporting is not very accurate. They report 12 dead, that the JFK library fire was a bombing, a Saudi in custody, several other inaccurate 'facts'.

Boston Police now report on twitter that the JFK library fire was not related to the B. Marathon bombings. There seems to continue be some confusion about reports of a third unexploded bomb found by police. Boston.com reports that police found a third device that was detonated by the bomb squad. Confusion remains in Boston.

Confirmed facts:
2 bombs exploded near the finish line in Boston about 2:45pm EDT.
One more bomb may have been found and detonated by the bomb squad.
Casualties are now reported as 3 dead and over 100 treated at Boston hospitals.
The reason for the bombings are still not known.
The race was diverted at first, and then shut down completely with about 2 hours remaining.

Some good news was that over a thousand medical staff were on hand at the Marathon and transport and treatment has been rapid.

Pres. Obama is having a press conference on TV on this at 6:10pm EDT.

I`m only hearing 2 confirmed dead, but sadly I expect this number to rise! I heard the scene was horrific many hurt missing limbs ect. Gruesome scene!

Ahh, The good ole NY Post. If it's not in the Post it didn't happen, but then again, if it IS in the Post, it doesn't mean that it DID happen. I read the Post EVERY day, except Sunday, & it's sensationalism at its best . Can't wait to see the front page tomorrow...
