2 Questions Harman People!

Number One, is there a special bit you use to get the little 1/4 screw for the ESP? Seems as though a standard bit wont fit between the probe and screw head.

And Secondly. Does changing stove temp from high to low or vice versa change feed rate or just convection blower speeds?

I use a 1/4" socket and short extension. While you have it out you may consider sloting the tab that mounts the esp, i did and now just loosen the screw turn the esp and slide it out. I had more trouble with restarting the screw back in the hole.

Stove temp will control the temp, it does take a few minutes to react thou.

Now thats a good idea with the ESP, I will be doing that the next time I remove mine for cleaning

Yup 1/4" socket with 1/4" drive, extension. Slotting is a good idea. Gently clean it..

I believe that the Hi / Lo is for the blower only. Feed speed would still be controlled by the dedicated knob.

If you choose to use a 1/4" socket, make sure it's a 6 point socket. You'll have much less chances of rounding the head if that ESP screw is really tight.

High / low is blower max speed. Pellet feed rate is always the same controlled by the auger, which is constant speed, but feed time is controlled by the ESP to maintain the stove at the set temp. The max time you can feed is controlled by the feed pot. 1 equals ten seconds per minute. 2 equals twenty seconds, etc. If you limit the max feed time to below what the ESP wants to bring the stove to temperature the stove will never control properly. Recommended setting is 4.

A spot of anti seize grease will hopefully keep it from rusting and sticking.

I don't remove mine. I have a brush on a long dowel I use to gently clean the ESP.

I tend to clean mine while i have the combustion blower out for cleaning. It takes a few seconds to pull it out and wipe down with some isopropyl alcohol.

Its a 1/4 inch size socket but usually the screw has deteriorated and it won't come out easily. You usually can get a small flat screwdriver under the head of the screw and lift it a bit as you unscrew it then it comes easy. It is easy to use a new screw which will work good for a couple seasons.

I don't, just use a long brush. Seems to work for me so far, although admittedly I'm only on my 3rd season with the P61a. Also don't mess with taking out the blower - just one more thing I could mess up

It's easy enough to do and pulling it once or twice a year insures good cleaning and good performance.

I tried the removal of exhaust fan and did not get far as it seems if one does not do it soon after purchase and use a bit of antiseize on the fan motor shaft, removal will only be by cutting the shaft If I continue to blast the motor with compressed air and vacuum out the windings of dust bunnies I hope to not have to remove for a very long time.
