2007 Castille, used. With 15 ft of pipe. What would you consider to be a good price?

I have been thinking about a pellet stove for my basement, I use wood upstairs, but sometimes would like to work on my bench in the basement which is unheated. I have a friend who is selling a Quad Castille, but I am not sure if the price is good. It is one year old. What would be a good deal on this?

Just to put my thoughts to you, I purchased my Castile free-standing stove new in late May of 08 and I paid $2399.00 and the vent pipe (Pellet Vent Pro) was another $450.00. Two weeks later the online and dealer price both went up to $2699.00. If I were in the market for another one (which I may do next year) as you explained I would be willing to pay $1500.00 for the stove and a couple of hundred for the pipe.

I just have a gut feeling that there were a lot of stoves purchased in haste this past summer and there will be more than a few for sale come spring.

Just my thoughts.

Funny-that is the exact price he offered it to me for, but he included the pipe. I guess I should take it.

If there is nothing wrong with the stove I would JUMP on that offer as soon as possible. Hell, I'd probably call him at 2:00 a.m. to tell him I'd take it! LOL

That is a VERY good deal in my opinion.

I bought mine at the end of December 07 and installed on Jan. 8, 2008 for 2199.00 and pipe was 450.00 and I agree......1500.00 would be a great price. I'd buy it in a heart beat. LOVE my Castille.....so far not a problem

installed castile free standing in Oct. (04)...been running great ever since....to save $ 1,000.00 on a one yr. old stove is a no brain-er....could only have had 4 ton of pellets run through it...

you also say the stove is from your friend, which is much better than buying from a stranger...if you want to make an enemy ask him to hold the stove until next yr. and sell it to you for $ 500.00....(only kidding)....buy 4 tons of pellets with the savings...

Well, the stove is mine. Great history on the stove, rarely used. I am not sure where it is going to go just yet as we are still planning our addition. He threw in 10 bags of pellets, 4 little fake logs that he paid 140.00 for, and 500 worth of stove pipe that he said was 1" clearance?? Stove only had one ton of pellets go through it. He also gave me a matching thermostat.

haven't heard from you since my reply to your (PM) back in Oct...hopefully you've had positive results with recommended settings and maintenance to your castile....

Shortstuff, Keep me in mind next spring as I am not yet sure how this stove will be fitting in my new construction. I will not be hooking it up this winter and if I cannot find a place for it I will sell it instead. House will be gutted at some point. I bought it as an "In case I could use it" cause the price was right. My primary stove I use is wood which I love and won't be giving up anytime soon.
Email me in the spring/ summer as I will have a much better idea as to where I am going with this.
