The one they missed IMHO is that those who have a seasons worth were starting to get low, and started competing with the week-to-weekers. And the seasons worth people probably bought another ton in February (like myself), just in case. I think this depleted stocks for the week-to-weekers, as well.

I agree..

Pretty much verifies what I already figured. The other part that was left out was competition for transportation... not sure how much of an impact but imagine it played a part. Grain farmers on the Canadian prairies were having a hard time moving their grain by train. Lots more tankers moving lately on the trains that go through locally. Great Lakes freeze up with the extreme cold and they are behind getting shipping lanes open - start was supposed to be two days ago and the ice breakers were still in Lake Erie.

I haven't heard if the coast guard breaker has been into the Bay of Quinte yet. He is going to find it pretty hard going this year!

They also forgot hearth.com pellet pigs. First word of shortage each went out and made sure they had secured 2015 heating supplies. The super pigs extended their supplies to 2016 and beyond. That took out at least 1 mills worth of annual production. I am also sure the word of a shortage in the ne didnt just awake the ne pigs. I am sure it created a nationwide pig run

I read this too and thought it was a very thought out explanation. I will also add to this, there is going to be a crazy mad rush to stock up this year, and there's going to be a heavy push on the part of fuel dealers to get people to stock up early. Choose your provider wisely, just sayin....anyone giving you an explanation on the pellet crisis that isn't covered in this article probably doesn't know his business very well

Heck Yea!

The horse bedding pellets are crap if you have mats or a concrete floor. It is like walking on marbles. They only work if you wet them. Not many people I know are going to wet there horse bedding

If you have a dirt floor they will work
