I wasn't trying to brag, but OK, you must have been impressed or you wouldn't have thought I was bragging.roddy said:its really impressive to hear about the long burn times and all,but we know they get incredible burn times, its getting a bit redundant...its like if jotul owners posted about how great looking their stoves are,we get it,they,re beautiful........just my two cents
i hear ya brother. the stove amazes me all the time and its cool to share it with others and hear there opinion. i still find it amazing. with the warm weather i havent been burning any of the good stuff and i just been loading up with small chunks and uglies and its still and easy 24 hour burn with ease.webby3650 said:I wasn't trying to brag, but OK, you must have been impressed or you wouldn't have thought I was bragging.roddy said:its really impressive to hear about the long burn times and all,but we know they get incredible burn times, its getting a bit redundant...its like if jotul owners posted about how great looking their stoves are,we get it,they,re beautiful........just my two centsIf there were posts from Jotul owners bragging about good looks, I would read every one and agree. But I was asking a question, if you notice. I asked if anyone else has had a similar experience with softer wood, this question was directed at BK owners. So, this thread has done exactly what I intended, to get BK owners to give there experience, so if that's redundant, so be it.

You've got a funny definition of freedom, fella. You're free to respond howsoever you see fit, but people should feel free to post only what roddy wants to read. Absolutly!
Hey, if it bores you, skip it.

And even if it's a plain looking box, I like how it looks. And that I didn't need to go all out on all kinds of hearth pad protection for it-the stones just get warm to the touch, no matter how long it's been burning.

The Ultra clearances are pretty decent although not as good as your Lopi. I'm lucky enough to have a non combustible wall behind the stove so I have the stove 6 inches off the wall. The side is shielded the same as the Lopi I can touch the side any time I want without getting burned, the hearth only requires ember protection which is the same as the Lopi stoves.
You mention the stove is in a cottage so I assume it's not your full time residence, in that situation I'd lean towards a non cat stove since I'd like to enjoy a nice view of the fire when I was there.
I actually didn't reload until about the 42 hour mark, Ok now I am bragging, sorry. :coolsmile:richg said:30 hours on one load of any wood, let alone maple, is just nucking futs. I wish I had bought a Blaze King :-((

I definitely enjoy the fire view I get in my Endeavor. Install location is not full time residence.

Man if I disliked my stove as much as you dislike yours I would have kicked it out of the house by now! I'm sure you could sell it for a decent price why don't you just get rid of it and not have to deal with it anymore?
Well I'm a die hard burner though. Wood is the only heat we have, and when it's 30 or so at night, a little heat is a must. I'm in Bloomington, how about you?HOOSIERJIM said:Hey Weby where you located in southern Indiana as you can see I am a fellow Hoosier who also owns a blaze king. With the weather we have been having I have been doing small loads and getting long burns. We have been having highs from the 40's to 60's here lately, hard to justify burning
