She looked fake...fake tan, fake "I'm diggin' this", fake "I sure am glad they put me in this stupid harem-looking costume", fake "Ya, sure, I know how to dance", fake "Nah, I'm not the least bit self-conscious". I like her voice, I like the memories the music brings to me...I just can't watch that video without feeling somehow sorry for her. I'm sure it's just me.

As a drummer I was always totally in love with Karen. She called herself a drummer that sings. Won't fill up the thread with links but search youtube for "karen carpenter" and "drums" sometime.

A former Fire Inspector I knew claimed he dated Karen Carpenter in high school for awhile . . . and while I would normally scoff at such a thing, he was not prone to exaggeration or tall tales.
