55-TRP10T - EPA Certified Pellet Stove - 1,500 sq. ft. - Up or Downstairs?

Hi there!

I found this pellet stove through another forum on here and just purchased it! We live in a 980 sq ft rambler. I am torn as to whether or not we should place the stove in out unfinished basement (and vent it through poured cement) or upstairs in living area because I am unsure if it will heat the entire home from the basement. I realize that heat rises but this stove will only heat a max of 40,000 BTUs and so I am just unsure how well it will work down there....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Others will chime in regarding getting heat up a set of stairs, because there are challenges to it.
Do you have forced hot air? If so get it next to the intake vent and that system can circulate your heat.
I have a 975 SqFt ranch and the stove is on the main floor. My England's Stove Works 25PDV keeps my living room at 75f and the back bed room at 65f.

P.S. I should have bought the same model as you because the 25PDV is too big for my house. Although I do love the 60Lb hopper.

Moving heated air from one floor to another isn't the easiest thing to do. I'd put the stove on the main living floor. The upstairs of my cape is usually 8-10 degrees cooler than the very open layout first floor where the stove is located. Every house is different though.

I put one in my basement a few years ago and it didn't do anything for upstairs except keep the floors warmer. Had to keep the electric on. Bought one for the upstairs and didn't use the basement one, so floors got cold again! Just bought a 100BTU pellet/corn furnace, it heats EVERYTHING! just use more fuel is the only downfall.
