After being gone for 10 hours.

The 13 was icey cold, but the PE had some life left.

I'm home for an hour and a half, PE level at 70F, the PE at 500F & climbing, almost have the air shut down with the last of the pine & cherry mix I started it with, 2 pieces of oak for the coal bed prep ready to go.

(Admits to turning on the gas oven to cook dinner at the other end of the house about 1/2 an hour ago ;) ).

The 13's level at 67F with a fresh load of maple, after a pine start up & roaring secondaries :p

No frozen pipes during this encounter, glad to say !

Ooops, make that 72F & 70F 20 minutes after starting this post, added 1st piece of oak to the PE, and the 13 is cruising @ 550 F.

I cheat waaay more than you. Actually my kids and the wife do by turning on the heat when they get home. It's set to 62 and they usually turn it to 65. That's OK with me, I get the stove going when I get in and going from 65 to 70ish doesn't take so long. After that the furnace is off until 4-5am.

What's a furnace ???

:p

Ouch!

Morning load is about 12 hrs in, stove room is down a degree to 77, tstat in the hallway is down a degree to 68. Mid teens today and about 12 right now. Gonna burn down the coals a bit before reloading.

I can hear that thing come on from down the block.

Wood is not my primary heat so I try not to obsess but that rumble can still wake me from a dead sleep-

Are you saying I obsess?? :)

The PE is good for 8 hours or so, depending on outside temps.. If I had my druthers, I would have gone with a 30. Might just do it, if everything aligns up.

I keep thinking I should change out the Jotul. Built like a tank, especially the baffles but loading is mostly E/W and burn times are not what they could be.

If I had a 30 I'd be golden ;)
