With a little luck and some elbow grease, I may be able to turn the damage and destruction of Hurricane Irene and the October Nor'Easter into being two years ahead with some high BTU hardwoods. I haven't split and stacked much yet-this is the beginning of my 2013 supply (oak with some black walnut mixed in):

My dad's got quite a pile of ash, locust, and oak at his place along with an apple tree that I need to cut up, plus I've got ash and maple sitting at my FIL's that I cut and didn't have room for in the bed. It's good to have family that is eager to help out

Nice! I am in the same boat. I have pulled out 9 pick up loads out so far of storm damage wood. I have a few more left.

From what I've heard, Connecticut is awash in downed wood from the Nor'Easter alone. You guys sure did pay for it in power outages though...

Not much noreaster' wood in SE CT. Still c/s/sing from Irene though...

If you had enough time. You could make a killing cleaning up peoples yards in certain areas. A buddy of mine wanted me to go out with him to do some work around his town. All old growth Maple, and Oaks. 40"++ type stuff. I have to much to split right now before I go out getting more.
