8" Vent pipe for King

So i was thinking of doing a alcove and putting a BK King in there. I see it uses a 8" vent and class A above the box to the top of the chimney. I had a ZC gas and now have a PE Super. My question is will the 8" class A fit up top threw the existing chimney? i will be removing the ss 6" liner currently in there. Or is this a dumb question because i need to go up there and measure?, sorry i wasn't sure if there was a standard or not when it comes to general chimneys. Or am i gonna have to modify up there outside. Also, when i put the ceiling box in, when i am installing the pipe when on the roof, do i just keep connecting them until i have enough sticking out? and will it be hard to connect to the ceiling box since i will be about 15' from the box do i just feel until its inserted and then just twist?

If you are taking out the zc unit the chimney will come out with it and then run your class a by it self. In order to do a class a you will probably need to open up the chase. are you going to be able to get the required clearances in the existing opening?

when you say the chimney will come out with it what do you mean? once i pull out the zc is the chase just 2x4 framed all the way? i really didnt want to have to open the chase from outside. The chase on the outside is 72" wide, and in the inside i plan on ripping out all the brick, currently brick to brick on the inside is from inside left to inside right is 48". My question is will once I remove all the brick will i have a framed out 2x4 chase that will be about 64" wide (- 4 " each side due to 2x4) that i can just put cement board over and then stone?

Yes it will all be open inside there should be a fire stop at any floors. Your chimney is supported by that zc unit when you take it out there will be nothing to support the chimney. As long as you have enough clearance you can just go over the studs yes if not you need spacers and air inlet top and bottom ect. You don't have to open it up if you are willing to climb down into the chase from the top but you will need to get in there to hook up the class a and put in supports.

ok, so i have another issue, as i look outside i see another pipe sticking up next to my chimney, i would say 7 inches to the left, it is the how water tank exhaust, its definitely in my chase, im worried that if i open the wall this pipe will be in the way and it will get in the way of my clearances. what should i do, see pic

where is the hot water heater located?

yeah it is in the chase for sure you will just need to open up the top to see what is in there. There is no way for us to know. It might be possible to switch the water heater to a direct vent so you don't need to run it all the way up. But no way for us to know that without actually seeing it. I think you need to get a sweep out to look at it and give you an idea of what needs done.

It will have to be moved or maybe converted to an electric nyle geyser type system?

For sure I would have an expert come take a look at this.

yeah may be possible to direct vent or power vent there are options but you need to get someone in to look at it. Also the wall you are going to be cutting a big hole in to make your alcove is almost certainly a structural wall so that needs to be taken into account also
