I've taken the liberty of making this a new topic as this is a happy ending (so far) tale.
You all have been unbelievably kind, informative, wise and caring.
I am attaching a few photos that tell the story. Its been quite a struggle, but with the help of my friends here and my neighbors and the "kindness of strangers", my troubles seem "gone with the wind".
It is about 17 degrees below zero tonight outside my door - it is a comfortable 73 degrees inside my cabin. Thats a 90 degree turnaround and my hybridized Quadrafire is the story.
I hope I can help someone out there with the experience and knowledge I've picked up in the process
