A couple of weeks ago the guy who owns this property had several large trees cut down. Today, he stopped by to tell me that I can have anything that I want for firewood. We agreed to save the trunk of the tree below. He is going to check about having it milled for lumber. I also was not sure if I could cut it with an 18 inch bar even working from both sides.

The second photo is the top of the tree which has some large rounds. A new sparkplug had my saw running great and a sharp chain made lots of wood chips. I think that the tree is maple. It was softer than cherry and other trees that I had been cutting. I also had fun driving my wife's CRV through snow some mud that would get my Civic stuck.

Nice! It's been a frustrating, soggy winter to cut here in VA

Been a great winter here in Southeast Michigan for wood cutting. Been too damn busy to cut any.....darn it....

We had a few nice days here weather wise, scored some 3 yr deadfall beech that the scavengers didn't notice... although it was more punky than I like, my stove putting out some nice btu's while im watching the snow and sleet fall in southern wv and surfin the hearth forums.. glad you scored... good times :-)

A friend of mine had a tree taken down and wants me to come and get it.
I am not certain what kind of tree it is.
