Heating systems are designed to produce 72 degrees at outside temp of zero up here in the Northeast zone

Basically a rule of thumb is 1000 BTUS are needed for 40 sq ft of floor space. This works in new construction where glass and insulation is installed up to current code.

Where more glass exposure occures ,naturally greater heat loss, higher that 8" ceilings ,this rule of thumb will not apply. Super insulated home 50 sq ft per 1000 BTUS

there are actual heat loss formulars out there on the web. match the location the home glass area current insulation and you will get a pretty good idea where one stands

Remember stoves are area zone heaters and not central systems
