I ran home early from work to clean out the chimney, only got about a quart of creosote down my 25' external chimney. Not too bad considering our frequent start ups down here and some less than ideal oak last year. I'm ready this year!

Cold rain, highs in the low 50's. Broke into my face cord of pine last night, will continue on and off thru the weekend as it's supposed to stay cool and damp. Soft maple and oak waiting......

Yep. These 40's just North of ya got me started on the two a days a couple of days ago. Looks like cloudy, rainy and 40 degree temps for a while to come.

They forecasted lows in the 30's here for Wednesday night so I lit up the stove for the first partial overnight burn, only got down to the 40's though, but woke up to the house in the lower 70's.

Lit up mine for the first time ever 2 nights ago down here in VA Beach...although only dropped into the lows 50s that northeasterly wind sure makes it feel a lot colder! Will see some burning this weekend with lows in the mid 40s. My little house went from 70 to 76 in a matter of an hour not even burning hot as it was the break-in period. Can't wait to see how this thing works in the winter might not need the heat pump at all!

It's kind of like the "wave of green" that travels from South to North that gardener's talk about in the Spring. I guess this would be the "heat wave" traveling from North to South as all the stoves are being lit as the cooler weather settles down this way.

Jotul 3 CB..my house is only 1 story though, just over 1000 square feet. Just used some seasoned wood I bought at Lowes, I have a buddy who has a farm in Southhampton County with a whole bunch of seasoned oak, going to pick up a pickup truck load of that when I get a chance to drive out there..

You're in Richmond, yall are going to drop into the 30s this weekend...up in the mountains they might get some snow ~1" sat nite!

We lit - the fireplace - in Williamsburg VA night before last - did I mention our furnace died?- Hence I am scoping the wood insert ads and I am back here on hearth.com. This site and you folks are the best. An answer for any question and entertainment to boot!

OK, anyone in VA have a stove dealer they want to recommend? In Richmond, or Norfolk, or Gloucester, anywhere within an hour or so of Williamsburg VA?
I am looking for a good dealer who actually doesn't mind talking to you about wood stoves. Lol.

I have a great dealer to recommend but you have to drive pretty fast to get to Manassas in an hour from Richmond. Did it once though. :cheese:

I got the stove cranking for the first time two days ago when it was in the low 40's during the day and 30 overnight. Was nice to go downstairs the next morning and not have to crank up the furnace.

Looking at posts here and the forecast I started the coal burn a little too soon and then put the three big splits in. I just went upstairs and warned my wife the that comforter won't see any use tonight. :red:

The 30 is rolling and it is gonna get warm around the joint tonight.

Got lit a few nights ago and it looks like im gonna have good reason to stay lit all weekend. The ol fish is criusin at 650 as i type. Im burning some wet oak now trying to save the good stuff for real cold weather.
