Adding bulk feed to Maxim

Decided to add bulk feed to my Maxim boiler this year. Have some things going on at work that may keep me away, plus it seemed to make sense. Ordered the factory hopper and transfer auger a couple of weeks ago and poured the concrete pad yesterday. This will hold 48 bushels.

Planning on all corn this year as the price continues to drop. Down to less than $110/ton. Will use the gravity wagon with auger to fill. If we get lots of snow and it stays like last year it maybe tough to get to it to fill but will be able to go a month or more between fills.

Will still need to empty ashes and clean tubes weekly.

All done. Fired up the boiler last night. I think I'm going to like this bulk storage thing.

Should have filled up the wagon a couple weeks ago. Filled it up for $130/ ton. Price has been going up. Cheapest pellets right now are over $250. Called about propain and was 2.299.

They had on the news that the inability to move farm products by rail is impacting the market even with record corn harvest. Shortage of propain and diesel in MN too. I filled the wagon with corn just after the 4th of July and paid the same $130 ton top the propain tank and was $1.59 a gallon. Only need to do that every three or so years and will be less wit the Elena upstirs. Last fill was $2.10
