I have a Regency Warmhearth, which does a good job heating my house.

I generally run it with the air intake almost all the way open. The unit burns quite hot, and the fan does a good job of transferring that heat to the room. I don't run it overnight, as we don't mind a cold house while sleeping.

If I shut the air intake down even halfway, the glass gets dirty very quickly. I'm burning pine and spruce from locally downed trees. I season the wood 12 months in a shed that is open on four sides, but I live 200 yards from the ocean and the relative humidity is almost always around 80%. The wood seems quite dry.

My question is: How much efficiency am I losing by not damping it down?

Thanks,
