I have cat stove second year I've been burning a cat stove been burning a non cat stove for 12 years before that. I used to look at my chimney with the sky as a back ground did not see any smoke. Now I was in the back yard and notice with the trees in the back ground I can see smoke coming out not a lot just a slow trickle. I would like to get people's opinion about how much smoke is ok for a cat stove to come out of chimney with air closed and a glow in the insert and cat temp around 700 with 2 logs burning?

Can't really help as I'm not a Cat person but it may help to post what type of stove and any details about the install and wood you care to share.

Wasn't water vapor was it?

Regency ci2600 with a 20ft clay and brick chimney with a liner not insulated, I'm burning oak about 2 years old, with 14% moisture freshly split reading from the middle. Temperature outside is 52.

Including picture of stove after burning 2 logs for 3 1/2 hours and a picture of the top of chimney it's hard to tell from the picture but there is smoke not a lot but some.
