Another freaking beetle to worry about

Our local newspaper has a special color insert about the Asian Long Eared Beetle. It gave great information and color photos of what the nasty little creature feasts on. Ash, birch, elm, hackberry, and the list goes on. Just what we need, more tree loss.

I believe that is a ALH ( horned) not ALE, been here quite awhile just been overshadowed by EAB. Dang thing chews on everything woody.

IIRC they don't have the range of the EAB so it "should" take a little longer for them to destroy our forests. I often wonder if anything will be left when my children are my age.

A nightmarish thought for anyone with young kids, whose rec. room is a sea of plastic toys.

Our fathers didn't have as many imported threats as we do. Mother nature will find a way to keep going long after we're gone but I hate seeing the destruction these little bugs can cause.

You're not far off; plastic is made of petroleum byproducts i.e. coming from oil ... and that's traded like gold and silver
