I've used several stoves throughout my life, and am used to the basics of new gasket rope, new firebricks, etc. This stove I'm dealing with is a bit of a mystery to me. It has such a high air intake, it of course eats through wood like it's nothing. It's in a small room too, so the room becomes unbearable quickly. The stove says Radium, and Ohio Stove Co. There are so many gaps and holes and vents throughout, I'm not sure if I can block some of them with tin foil, furnace cement or rope? Also the bottom of the barrel becomes red hot after a few hours, and there is damage along the bottom. Is it possible to cement in firebricks vertically and is that even a good idea? There is no damper. I believe it was taken out because it was solid and driving smoke in to the room and causing creosote buildup. Any help on this is appreciated as it is the only heat source for this area.
