Hello all

Recently had to change the igniter and the dealer sold me a newer model 230v300v igniter.......

It gets cherry red ( so its working ). But the stove still fails to ignite. The last two nights the computer screen is "min fire pot temp"

Any ideas people.


I have fully cleaned every part of the stove. Fire pot, exhaust, etc

Sounds like a pellet stove so you should post it in the pellet section and maybe have better luck getting an answer. Good luck.

Are there any pellets in the pot when this happens? Min Fire Pot temp is usually a lack of fuel. If there is no fuel in the pot you could have pellets bridging the auger shoot causing a clog. Is this your first timelighting the stove? You need to manually add a handful or two of pellets into the pot to help ignition on the initial stove start up.

Make sure the fire pot thermocouple is touching the ceramic cover.

The stove is 4 years old...( I have it 4 years ) Only when I change an igniter do I get a new lot of problems.

The stove is feeding pellets perfect. When it dumps the pellets they are smoking
To me it's like the igniter is not getting hot enough.

I will check the thermocouple today

Where did ya put the washers on the igniter? Is it close enough to the igniter opening?

The washer and wing nut is placed all the in "IE" it can't go any further in to the igniter holder

Did you do like smokeshow said and make sure the thermocoupler is touching the inside of the ceramic cover? If it is not, it won't sense the correct pot temperatures to keep the stove lit. Here is a QuadraFire Tech manual to help you figure it out. Hope it helps. I would also look at the section on testing the thermocoupler, It may not be working.

Ya thermo couple is touching the wire.


An air flow problem was my next question to ye all. The pellet stove is very quiet,

Going to have to check to see if the exhaust fan is operational. Maybe its just a wire off the motor. If the stove is disconnected from venting you should feel the air movement of the exhaust. Check to see if there is a blockage in the intake too.

Ok.

Stove is in start up.

As you look at the stove the right hand side cover is off.

The nearest motor "exhaust" is spinning m

The biggest fan at the other side is not moving. At what stage does this fan engage

Fuel is flaming up. Big fan still not on .

Ok the fuel burned out. And just before the stove went into auto clean the big fan came on for approx 1 min

If I remember Quads switches it on at about 180 degrees F. The silver exhaust fan should start as soon as it calls for heat on startup. It appears as though you are not getting enough fuel into the burn chamber to keep a good fire going. Hopefully someone will chime in about how to set up the feed rate. There's a common quote on this site about if it don't work clean it and if that don't work clean it again. Check the feed auger for something possibly plugging or restricting the movement of pellets. Wish I knew a bit more about this model.

Does the properties settings look the same as any other mt vernon owners stoves

Have you used the manual I sent to you to check out the thermocoupler for proper operation? I am still thinking that if fuel is dropping and it is lighting but not getting out of slow start to a full burn, that your thermo coupler is not sensing the proper fuel pot temp to keep it going. Are you getting any errors on the screen? That troubleshooting manual will explain how to check each component if you have a multi-meter.

I checked the thermocouple. And it had slipped back 5 mm. I adjusted it and boom the stove fired up perfect for that day, than the next day no joy. It failed to light for the night. Next evening ( yesterday ) it light all evening perfect. And today it's failing to light. ????????

Did you actually check the thermocoupler for resistance? Is the stove still under warranty? Any error codes on the screen?

Haven't checked for resistance. I must get a multi meter. The stove is on its 4,th year. So no warranty
