Anyone got a stainless stove pipe?

I know the stainless normally goes on the inside (of an insulated pipe) - but I like the look of stainless
Currently have a 6" black single wall connector and was thinking to buy (or have made) 7" stainless to go over the top. I think the pipe runs a little cool and is longish (26' total) so this couldn't hurt right?

The only thing is you won't be able to keep track of the flue temperature and it might cause a problem come cleaning time if you need to disassemble the pipe. Also, you perhaps would be much better off using ready made 8" rather than 7."

Why dont you just buy 6" single wall stainless pipe and replace the black pipe?

Dunno... we don't stock it. If someone wanted it I could order it from BDM but I have no clue on prices. Heat-Fab also makes it which you can get from Copperfield and probably other vendors as well.

Cause I thought it would be good to add another layer to keep flue temps up. Also thought the stainless might discolor if only single wall. Planning to cut "trap doors" in the back of both layers to allow easy cleaning. Currently I disassemble the whole stove pipe (16') and clean it in the front yard. A pain as I burn all softwood - it needs to be done 2 -3 times a season I think.

I could see how stainless would discolor after awhile and end up looking bad. What about copper? I bet that would be even more than s/s?

Yes good point, it would discolor. I don't see any problem with adding a SS wrap around the pipe.

You want a chromed finish. It looks good on a Harley.. Chroming requires polishing first, which I'm pretty sure isn't done to black pipe. But I think any decent plater will be able to do both processes for you - for a price.
