I was wondering if anyone had or used the side shelf on their stove? I am thinking of it just to put a pot of water in to add some humidity to my house. I'm wondering if it will work or evaporate enough water to make any difference. I'd appreciate any opinions.

If I got the side shelf (just cause it looks pretty), do I need to account for it's distance to combustibles?
