Would you go with an Atlantic Cast iron stove....very old needs cement and a polish, bolts that go from top to bottom hold the walls up and the legs on.... They are seized and rusted bad. (Thinking they need replacing as well) No fire bricks Or any liner just the iron. And a oval exit to eight inch single wall. Or would you go with the Garrison 2 which is sealed but having trouble with the doors and gasket.... No cracking in the seams, 6" round exit. Full brick inside baffle intact (no warping) from what I can see....
Heating 1950s drafty cottage/slash hunting cabin/place I'm trying too make into a home. Square footage is weird open concept loft bedroom, but small otherwise.....basically 29' by 16' rectangle base half built up to a loft bedroom above bathroom and kitchen. Hearth is on opposite end of the housebound level.
Single wall 6 inch stove pipe up about 6' past the roof. Insulated where it passes through the roof. Never had a problem with draft always good uptake for the smoke.
Original stove is a Lopi.... Just looking for advice. I am no expert by any means just learning what I can do by myself. Just had my first son five months ago, so that's a big part of this decision. Got a kerosene heater for back up, but I grew up with wood heat, I love it!
Thanks for any input!
