Last stove was a top vent so gravity helped.

I am attaching a Duravent 6DBK-ADDB skirted adapter to rear vent Baby Bear. How does one properly attach the adapter to the stove vent? The vent seems too thick to simply jam a self tapping screw in there (I think?). What do the cool kids do?

Drill the right size hole and self tappers work
